The Delaware County Conservation District is partnering with the Pennsylvania Resources Council to offer “Bringing Green Energy Home;” a series of interactive, multimedia educational workshops aimed at helping residents establish environmentally friendly practices in the home.
During the program, trained environmental educators will discuss all aspects of energy use in the home. The workshop will include segments on alternative energy technologies currently available at the household level, such as compact fluorescent light bulbs, solar-powered water heaters, hybrid vehicles, as well as technologies expected to become available to homeowners in coming years. Both traditional and non-traditional methods of energy conservation will be covered. In addition, residents can learn about Energy Star appliances, insulation, low-e windows, and computerized regulation of thermostats and lighting. A question and answer period will follow the presentation.
The workshops are free of charge to all Delaware County residents, business owners/managers, and municipal officials. Workshop attendees will receive one free compact fluorescent light bulb (up to 80 per workshop), and materials to help establish energy conservation efforts. On lucky participant at each workshop will also win a basic home energy audit worth $250.
The “Bringing Green Energy Home” workshop is funded through a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Environmental Education Grants Program.
