For Special Events

Why should my special event recycle?

It could save you money:

Special events are a unique animal where you can dictate and control a very distinct period in time. Recycling collections for your event can be easy to set up, with contractual agreements that stipulate compliance with waste reduction goals and service providers offering flexible collection options to suit your needs. Reducing, reusing and recycling your waste could lower your waste collection and disposal bill for the event. These savings will increase as the cost of disposing of waste to landfill continues to rise.

It conserves resources:

Energy and raw materials go into making the products that we consume everyday. The potential for waste is highest in the world of special events where energy, materials and time are used to make an experience happen in a short period of time. Keeping those materials in the production cycle allows for those resources expended and collected during extraction and refinement to be conserved

It looks good:

Many households now have access to recycling facilities and you can promote a positive and responsible image to your event participants, vendors and staff by implementing recycling practices for your special event.

It is the Law:

According to Pennsylvania Act 101, the Solid Waste Reduction and Recycling Act of 1988, mandated communities are required to recycle, at a minimum:

  • aluminum cans
  • high-grade office paper
  • corrugated cardboard
  • leaf waste (if generated)
As a result of the Act 101, many mandated municipalities require special events over 200 people to be in compliance with municipal code regarding recycle. Please check with your local municipality for exact recycling requirements.
