Why should my institution recycle?
It could save you money:
Recycling collections for your institution can be easy to set up, with a number of service providers offering flexible collection options to suit your needs. Reducing, reusing and recycling your waste could lower your waste collection and disposal bills. These savings will increase as the cost of disposing of waste to landfill continues to rise.
It conserves resources:
Energy and raw materials go into making the products that we consume everyday. Keeping them in the production cycle allows for those resources expended and collected during extraction and refinement to be conserved.
It looks good:
Many households now have access to recycling facilities and you can promote a positive and responsible image to your customers, employees and students by implementing recycling practices for your business.
It is the Law:
According to Pennsylvania Act 101, the Solid Waste Reduction and Recycling Act of 1988, businesses in mandated communities are required to recycle, at a minimum:
- aluminum cans
- high-grade office paper
- corrugated cardboard
- leaf waste (if generated)
Please check with your local municipality for exact recycling requirements. Many mandated municipalities require businesses to recycle additional materials to be in compliance with municipal code.
