Waste Reduction Accomplishment for WED Special Events

Waste Reduction Accomplishment Certification for World Environment Day Special Events

Events registered on the World Environment Day website are required to “meet or exceed the model City of Pittsburgh Special Events Recycling Guidelines that require, at minimum, the recycling of beverage containers (glass, plastic, aluminum and steel) and corrugated cardboard.” Since you're already planning to do this at your event, why not get credit for your hard work? It’s for this reason that Zero Waste Pittsburgh (ZWP) offers the Waste Reduction Accomplishment Certification (WRAC) program. This program is designed to recognize and document efforts by event organizers to minimize the amount of solid waste going to landfills and facilitate environmentally friendly events.

World Environment Day
Events occurring between Earth Day and World Environment Day can have their WRAC fees waived thanks to a partnership with the Colcom Foundation. Register your event online today or contact Zero Waste Pittsburgh to learn more about the WRAC program. ZWP encourages and can help every event organizer throughout the year to reduce as much of the impact of their events through careful planning and coordinated collection.
